Design

At Media Image, great design is at the core of what we do – and our design talent extends to DVD as well. Before any sketches are developed, we work with the client to determine communications goals for the DVD project. With these goals in mind, we can develop a DVD design/interface that balances both aesthetic and technical needs.

Encoding

Encoding source material for DVD delivery is done using state of the art MPEG-2 software compression tools. We can work from Digi Beta, Beta SP or MiniDV as required for video material. For source audio, we can create Dolby AC-3 files for surround formats, including 5.1 as well as stereo tracks. We can remix surround (typically 5.1) or stereo tracks as required, as well as producing a fold down stereo mix.

Authoring

Authoring presents the most complex and least understood of the DVD production tasks. It is at this stage that all video and audio ‘assets’ are linked together. Menus are generated using Adobe Photoshop, multiple camera or audio tracks are laid out, subtitles are generated and each element of the DVD is setup. We can also set language, region and copy protection codes as required. Each project element is stored centrally on our network, for total recall on future updates as required.

Replication

The final stage in the DVD production process is creating your copies for distribution. We can produce DVD-R for very short run distribution, and DVD-ROM for 500 to 500,000 units and more. Testing and quality control are paramount, and each master is tested on multiple workstations before disc duplication commences.
